VoiceRec

Last updated: July 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how VoiceRec (“we,” “us,” or “this App”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Android application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information Collected by the App Itself

VoiceRec is primarily a local voice recording and recording-management tool. Unless explicitly described in this Privacy Policy (such as downloading offline speech recognition models or sending analytics/crash diagnostics through Firebase), your recording content is processed locally on your device. It does not require you to register or sign in, and it does not upload personally identifiable information to our servers for an account system. Specifically:

If you use the system “Share,” “Open with,” or a file picker to send audio from another app to this App for import or processing, the data flow is governed by the system and the other app’s policies. This App accesses such data only to the extent needed to perform the action you chose.

[Important] About your recordings and transcriptions: Audio you create or import in this App, and optional on-device speech-to-text results, are recorded, played, managed, and recognized on your device. Recording audio itself is not uploaded to our servers. This App does not transmit the above materials to our servers for the purpose of collecting your personal recording content.

1.2 Information Related to Third-Party Services

This App does not integrate advertising SDKs, and we do not operate our own servers for storing users’ personal data. This App uses the following third-party services, which may collect certain information:

Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users use this App and to improve the experience. Firebase Analytics may collect:

Important: Firebase Analytics is designed primarily for product and aggregated analysis. For more information, see Google’s documentation: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically detect and report app crashes and errors so we can fix issues and improve stability. Crashlytics may collect:

Important: Crashlytics is used primarily for technical diagnosis and app improvement; Crashlytics does not collect your recording content. For more information, see Google’s documentation: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

The Firebase-related data above is processed under Google’s privacy policy. For more information, see: https://policies.google.com/privacy

General note: Data collected through Firebase is used primarily for analytics and app improvement. Google processes such data in accordance with its privacy policy. We do not upload your recording content through Firebase.

Important: We do not provide a user account system, and we do not operate our own servers for storing users’ personal data. Data processed by Firebase is subject to Google’s data retention and security practices; retention periods follow Google’s rules.

Vosk Offline Speech Models (Alphacephei)

If you enable the “Speech to text” feature, this App needs a one-time download of the Vosk speech recognition model for your selected language (typically tens of MB, depending on the language). Model files are obtained from public URLs provided by Alphacephei (for example, https://alphacephei.com/vosk/models/...).

We cannot control how third-party servers log network access. Please review their official documentation. For more about Vosk / Alphacephei, see: https://alphacephei.com/vosk/

The content and privacy practices of third-party websites are their own responsibility. Please review their official privacy policies and related notices.

2. Permissions Requested by the App

To provide the corresponding features, this App declares or may use the following permissions (subject to your device system and the final merged application manifest):

Permission Purpose
android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO
(Microphone / recording)
Used to record audio through the device microphone. Without this permission, recording cannot start. Audio is stored on your device and is not uploaded to our servers as part of the recording feature.
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS Used to show progress and status notifications during recording, playback, copy to Downloads, MP3 encoding, batch moves, and similar tasks (requested as required by the system on Android 13 and above).
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE
Used, where permitted by the system, to continue recording via a microphone-type foreground service with a visible notification, so the task is less likely to be terminated arbitrarily by the system.
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK Used to continue playback via a foreground service and show playback status in a notification.
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC Used to keep longer tasks running via a foreground service—such as copy to Downloads, decoding/waveform processing, and batch moving recordings—together with a visible notification.
android.permission.INTERNET Used to: (1) download offline recognition models from Alphacephei when you actively choose speech-to-text; and (2) transmit usage analytics and crash-diagnostic related data for Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. This network access is not used to upload your recording content to our servers; we do not use this permission for the purpose of uploading recordings. No user account or cloud backup service is provided by this App.

[Storage access note]: This App targets Android 10 (API 29) and above. Recordings are written by default to app-owned storage, and may use MediaStore / the system file picker (SAF) for import, save-as, or restore. The manifest does not declare “All files access” (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) or traditional broad read/write external storage permissions.

Optional scenario: If you need to recover recordings after reinstall from locations such as “Music/VoiceRec,” this App may try to locate related files via MediaStore; if they are not found automatically, you may authorize access by selecting a directory yourself through the system file/folder picker (SAF). If you deny or cancel that selection, restore features may be limited, but ordinary recording and playback within directories already accessible to this App are unaffected.

Note: This App requests only the permissions needed for its core features. You may manage or revoke some permissions in system settings; revocation may affect related features (for example, inability to record or to show notification progress).

3. System Share, Open With, Widgets, and Other Services

When you use system “Share,” “Open,” or another app to send audio to this App, or share recordings/transcription text from this App, the interaction is coordinated by the Android system and the source/destination apps. This App accesses the relevant URI or path based on the action you initiate and does not assume a separate privacy obligation for the content of third-party apps or websites. If you visit external links or third-party software, please review their respective privacy policies.

This App provides a home screen widget and a Quick Settings tile for one-tap recording; these entry points still run on your device and do not cause recordings to be uploaded to our servers.

This App does not provide cloud sync, online social feeds, or personalized advertising recommendations. If future versions add new online capabilities, we will update this Policy accordingly.

4. How We Use Information

We use related information only for the following purposes:

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information for advertising purposes. Data processing or disclosure may occur only in the following circumstances:

6. Data Security

We take the security of your information seriously. Data related to this App’s core recording and management features is processed primarily on your device. When downloading offline speech models, and when transmitting analytics and crash-diagnostic data to Firebase, network transmission typically uses secure protocols such as HTTPS/TLS. We will not sell your recording content itself or use it in ways inconsistent with this Policy. We do not transmit or store your recording content on our servers.

Please note: if you choose to store recordings in a public directory (for example, “Music/VoiceRec”), other apps or users with the appropriate permissions may be able to access those files. That visibility results from the storage location you chose, not from upload by us.

7. Children’s Privacy

This App is not directed to children under the minimum digital consent age applicable in their jurisdiction (such as under 13 in the United States), and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. If you believe there is a related issue, please contact us.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page (or the same in-app link), and the “Last updated” date will be revised. For material changes, we will provide notice in an appropriate manner as required by applicable law. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.

9. Your Rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you may have the right to know about, access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of information related to you. Because this App is primarily local, you can usually manage local data through in-app features such as deleting recordings, emptying the trash, or uninstalling the app. For information processed by Google through Firebase, please see the privacy and account tools provided by Google. You may also manage certain data processing through device settings or privacy controls offered by Google (subject to the features Google currently provides). You may uninstall this App at any time to stop using it; after uninstall, data in the app’s private directory is deleted according to system rules, but files you saved under paths such as “Music/VoiceRec” or “Downloads” are not automatically deleted, nor is space used by downloaded speech models necessarily cleared (unless the system removes them as well). You may also reset or clear Firebase Analytics data through the privacy controls provided by Google, where applicable.

Because we do not store your recording content on our servers, there is no server-side request for access, correction, or deletion of recording content.

10. Contact Us

11. Consent

By downloading, installing, or continuing to use VoiceRec, you indicate that you have read and agreed to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use this App.
