1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how TVRemote (“we,” “us,” or “the App”) processes information locally on your device and, where necessary, transmits limited technical or service-related information to third-party services such as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, as well as optional IR catalog downloads.

TVRemote is primarily a local TV remote-control tool. It turns your phone into a Bluetooth HID remote and, on compatible phones, can send infrared (IR) commands. It does not require you to register or sign in, and it does not operate a user account system.

2. Information We Collect and Process

2.1 Information Processed Locally

Unless explicitly described in this Privacy Policy (such as downloading an IR catalog you request or sending analytics/crash diagnostics through Firebase), information used by TVRemote is processed locally on your device. It does not require you to register or sign in, and it does not upload personally identifiable information to our servers for an account system. Specifically:

We do not require your name, mailing address, national ID number, email address, or phone number as mandatory collection items;
Remote settings, theme preferences, device nicknames, bonded-device associations, IR code-set selections, macros/routines, and similar preferences are stored primarily on your device (app private storage / DataStore);
Operations such as Bluetooth pairing and connection, sending HID key/mouse/keyboard events, IR transmission, IR brand matching, and importing your own IR code files are processed primarily on your device;
This App does not integrate advertising SDKs (such as AdMob) and does not use the Advertising ID to show personalized ads. Firebase Analytics Advertising ID collection and Analytics ad personalization signals are disabled in the App configuration.

[Important] About remote control and IR data: Bluetooth commands are sent directly between your phone and your TV (or other target device). IR signals are emitted by your phone’s IR transmitter when available. Core remote-control features do not upload your TV screen content, passwords, or remote-button press streams to our servers.

2.2 Bluetooth and Nearby Device Information

To discover, pair, and connect to TVs and other devices, this App may access Bluetooth-related information available through the Android system, such as:

Bluetooth on/off state and local adapter name;
Names and addresses of paired or discovered nearby devices (as exposed by the system);
Connection state of the Bluetooth HID profile used by this App.

This nearby-device information is used locally on your device to provide remote-control features. TVRemote does not intentionally send Bluetooth device names, addresses, or connection information to Firebase or to our own servers.

On Android 11 and below, the system may require a location permission for Bluetooth discovery. This App requests that permission only for Bluetooth device discovery, with maxSdkVersion=30. It does not use GPS maps, does not track your physical location for advertising or analytics, and does not request background location.

2.3 Optional Network Features

This App may use the network only in limited, feature-specific cases:

IR catalog update (optional / user-triggered or configured)

You may check for or apply an IR code-catalog update. The default catalog URL points to a public HTTPS resource (for example a GitHub-hosted catalog.json). During download, ordinary network metadata such as IP address may be processed by the hosting provider according to its practices. TVRemote uses this network access to download catalog data; it does not upload your personal profile, account information, or remote settings as part of the catalog update.

Catalog files contain IR brand/code-set data used for remote matching;
You may change the catalog update URL in settings.

TVRemote does not operate a user account cloud and does not provide cloud backup of remotes.

2.4 Third-Party Services (Firebase)

We do not operate our own servers for storing users’ remote-control data or account data. This App uses the following third-party services, which may collect certain information:

Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users use this App and to improve the experience. Firebase Analytics may collect:

App usage events: automatic and product analytics events such as app opens, sessions, screen or feature usage, flow statistics, and similar;
Device information: device model, Android version, language settings, app runtime environment information, and similar;
App instance identifiers: Firebase-generated identifiers associated with the app installation or analytics service (such as App Instance ID, Google App Set ID, or Firebase Installation ID), where applicable.

We do not intentionally send remote settings, device nicknames, Bluetooth addresses, IR code data, or remote-button press streams to Firebase Analytics. Firebase Analytics is used for product and technical analytics—not for showing ads in this App. For more information, see Google’s documentation: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically detect and report app crashes and errors so we can fix issues and improve stability. Crashlytics may collect:

Device information: device model, Android version, manufacturer, and similar;
App state: state information related to app runtime when a crash occurs;
Error information: stack traces, error messages, crash logs, and other technical diagnostic information;
Identifiers: Crashlytics installation identifiers and crash session identifiers.

When Analytics is enabled, Crashlytics may also use Analytics breadcrumb logs to help understand actions immediately before a crash. Crashlytics may also process developer-defined logs, keys, or other diagnostic information when we explicitly include such information in crash reports. We do not intentionally include remote settings, device nicknames, Bluetooth addresses, IR code data, or remote-button press streams in Crashlytics reports. General note: Data collected through Firebase is used primarily for analytics and app improvement. Google processes such data in accordance with its privacy policy. We do not upload your remote settings or remote-control content through Firebase.

Important: We do not provide a user account system, and we do not operate our own servers for storing users’ remote-control data or account data. Firebase data is retained and deleted according to the applicable retention practices and policies of the Firebase services we use.

3. Permissions

To provide the corresponding features, this App declares or may use the following permissions (subject to your device system and the final merged application manifest):

`android.permission.BLUETOOTH_ADVERTISE`	Used when you choose to make the phone temporarily discoverable for remote-initiated pairing (for example “enable Bluetooth visibility”).
`android.permission.BLUETOOTH` `android.permission.BLUETOOTH_ADMIN` (maxSdkVersion 30)	Legacy Bluetooth access on Android 11 and below.
`android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION` (maxSdkVersion 30)	Required by older Android versions for Bluetooth discovery. Used only to find nearby Bluetooth devices—not for maps, navigation, or background tracking.
`android.permission.TRANSMIT_IR`	Send infrared remote signals on phones that have an IR transmitter.
`android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE` `android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CONNECTED_DEVICE`	Keep a connected-device foreground service running while the Bluetooth HID remote session is active, with a visible notification (and optional notification controls).
`android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS`	Show the ongoing remote-service notification and related status on Android 13 and above (not required to use core IR-only features where Bluetooth is unused).
`android.permission.INTERNET`	Used for optional IR catalog downloads and for Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics network transmission. Not used to provide an account, cloud backup, or an in-app advertising network.
`android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE`	Merged from library dependencies (for example Firebase / AndroidX). Used to check network connectivity in connection with optional IR catalog downloads, Firebase SDK operations, and widget-related scheduling—not for advertising.
`android.permission.WAKE_LOCK`	Merged from library dependencies (AndroidX Glance / WorkManager). Allows short background scheduling tasks to complete reliably—not for advertising or continuous tracking.
`android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED`	Merged from library dependencies (AndroidX Glance / WorkManager). Allows widget-related scheduling to be restored after device reboot. Not used to collect personal content or to start remote-control sessions for advertising.

[Storage / files note]: This App does not declare “All files access” (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) or broad legacy external-storage read/write permissions. If you import IR code files or share an IR profile, access is typically performed through the system share sheet or a file picker (SAF) for the action you chose.

Sensors: An optional tilt-to-move mouse feature may use the device gyroscope locally. That sensor access does not require a separate dangerous runtime permission and sensor data is not uploaded to our servers.

Note: This App requests only the permissions needed for its features. You may manage or revoke some permissions in system settings; revocation may affect related features (for example, inability to scan/connect over Bluetooth or to show the remote notification).

4. Widgets, Quick Settings, Notifications, and Sharing

This App may provide a home-screen widget, a Quick Settings tile, and an ongoing notification with optional remote buttons. These entry points still run on your device and do not cause remote-control traffic to be uploaded to our servers.

When you use system “Share” to send an IR profile or other content to another app, or import a file you selected, the interaction is coordinated by the Android system and the destination/source apps. This App accesses the relevant data only to perform the action you initiated.

This App does not provide cloud sync of remotes, online social feeds, or personalized advertising recommendations. Third-party Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are described in section 2.4. If future versions add new online capabilities, we will update this Policy accordingly.

5. How We Use Information

We use related information only for the following purposes:

To provide Bluetooth remote control, IR control, device management, and related local features;
To discover and connect to nearby devices you choose;
To update IR catalogs when you request or configure an update;
To show notifications, widgets, and Quick Settings controls you use;
To understand app usage and diagnose crashes through Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, so we can improve stability and product quality.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information for advertising purposes. Data processing or disclosure may occur only in the following circumstances:

Catalog hosting: when you download an IR catalog, the request is sent to the configured HTTPS host (default may be a public GitHub/raw content URL), which may process ordinary transmission metadata according to its own practices;
Google Firebase: analytics and crash diagnostic data may be processed by Google under its privacy policy, as described in section 2.4;
Sharing initiated by you: when you share a profile or file to another app, the data is received by the destination you choose;
Legal requirements: where required by law, or upon a lawful request by a court or other competent authority, we may disclose necessary information as required.

7. Data Security

We take the security of your information seriously. Core remote-control features run primarily on your device and over local Bluetooth/IR. When catalog updates or Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics transmissions occur, network communication typically uses secure protocols such as HTTPS/TLS where the destination supports them.

Please note: Bluetooth device names and addresses visible in the App are also governed by how your TV and the Android Bluetooth stack expose them. Uninstalling the App removes app-private data according to system rules; it does not unpair devices in system Bluetooth settings automatically.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

TVRemote primarily stores remote settings and preferences locally on your device.

Local app data (settings, nicknames, IR selections, macros/routines, and similar preferences) can be removed by clearing the App’s data in system settings or by uninstalling the App, subject to Android system behavior;
Bluetooth pairings managed by Android are not automatically removed when the App is uninstalled; you may manage them in system Bluetooth settings;
IR catalog downloads are temporary network downloads of public catalog data. TVRemote does not maintain a user account database of your remotes on our servers;
Firebase data is retained and deleted according to the applicable retention practices and policies of the Firebase services we use. Uninstalling the App or clearing app data stops further collection from this App on your device;
Because core remote settings are stored on-device and are not uploaded to our servers for an account system, there is generally no server-side copy of your remote settings for us to delete upon request.

9. Children’s Privacy

TVRemote is not directed to children and is not designed specifically for children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through TVRemote. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can review and take appropriate action.

10. Your Rights

Most information processed by TVRemote is stored locally on your device and is under your control. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you may manage that information through in-app settings (for example renaming/removing devices or clearing preferences), by clearing app data, or by uninstalling the App.

You may revoke Bluetooth, nearby-devices, location (legacy), or notification permissions in system settings. System Bluetooth pairings are managed separately in Android Bluetooth settings. To stop further Firebase collection from this App, uninstall the App or clear its data.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page (or the same in-app link), and the “Last updated” date will be revised. For material changes, we will provide notice in an appropriate manner as required by applicable law. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
